A Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Passeig de Gràcia

Located in Barcelona’s upscale Passeig de Gràcia district, The Alexandra Barcelona Hotel places you right in the center of one of the city’s most luxurious and vibrant areas. This elegant boulevard is known for its designer shopping, renowned restaurants, and iconic architecture, making it an ideal home base before or after your cruise.

Even better, the hotel is just moments from top attractions like Casa Batlló and La Pedrera (Casa Milà), as well as the lively Rambla de Catalunya. As a result, you can easily explore Barcelona without needing extensive transportation.

Historic Charm Meets Modern Design

Housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century building, the hotel seamlessly blends historic elegance with modern comfort. Throughout the property, you’ll notice original mosaic flooring, framed ceilings, and natural oak finishes, all complemented by curated local photography and mid-century designer furniture.

This thoughtful design creates a boutique atmosphere that feels both stylish and authentically Barcelona.

Ideal for Cruise Travelers: Easy Access to Port and Airport

One of the biggest advantages of staying at The Alexandra Barcelona Hotel is its convenient location for cruise passengers.

  • Barcelona Cruise Terminal: Approximately 20 minutes away
  • Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN): Approximately 30 minutes away

Additionally, getting to and from the airport is simple and flexible. From the nearby Passeig de Gràcia station, just a short two-block walk, you can easily access:

  • Direct train service to BCN Airport
  • Airport bus connections
  • Or arrange a private car transfer for a seamless door-to-door experience

My Personal Stay Experience

I stayed at The Alexandra following a 15-day transatlantic cruise, and it was exactly what I needed after days at sea.

As a Hilton Honors member, I received a high-floor room (Room 512). While the room was compact, as expected in a historic European building, it was thoughtfully designed and comfortable, featuring twin beds and a street-facing window.

Traveling with my mother, I’m always mindful of safety and walkability. Fortunately, the Eixample district, and especially the Passeig de Gràcia area, felt incredibly safe, clean, and easy to navigate.

Moreover, the hotel’s location made sightseeing effortless. We were within walking distance of Gaudí landmarks and just steps from metro access, allowing us to quickly reach Plaça de Catalunya and other parts of the city.

Seamless Sightseeing and Transportation

In addition to metro access, the popular hop-on hop-off bus stops conveniently between Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, just a short walk from the hotel. Therefore, exploring Barcelona’s top highlights becomes incredibly simple, even on a short pre-cruise stay.

Service That Stands Out

What truly elevated the experience, however, was the service.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome. Omar, the concierge, not only assisted with our luggage and airport directions but went above and beyond, helping another guest repair their suitcase wheel. It’s these small but meaningful touches that make a stay memorable.

Amenities to Enhance Your Stay

Although I didn’t have time to enjoy every feature, the hotel offers several amenities perfect for unwinding before or after a cruise:

  • Outdoor pool
  • Terrace garden
  • On-site restaurant
  • Meeting and event spaces

Additionally, our stay included an upscale continental breakfast featuring fresh breads, pastries, meats, cheeses, fruit, and a selection of coffee, tea, and juices—an ideal way to start a day of exploring.

Why the Alexandra Barcelona Hotel Is Perfect for Cruise Travelers

All things considered, this hotel checks every box for a pre- or post-cruise stay:

  • Prime location in the luxury Passeig de Gràcia district
  • Walkable to major attractions and transportation
  • Easy access to both the cruise port and the airport
  • Boutique charm with modern comforts
  • Safe, central neighborhood ideal for travelers
